The University of Canterbury recognises and supports academic excellence by honours and master's students in History at the University of Canterbury.

The scholarship is tenable for the period necessary to complete 1.00 EFTS2 of enrolment while the recipient is enrolled either full-time or part-time in either a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree programme or Part 1 of a Master of Arts degree programme. Recipients who are studying part-time will have a tenure of up to two calendar years.

Continuation of a scholarship is conditional on satisfactory academic progress and adherence to the University's statutes and regulations.

Applications for the scholarship must be made on the appropriate form, obtainable from the Scholarships website, and must be forwarded to the Scholarships Office, not later than 5pm on 31 March, or, if this is not a business day, not later than 5pm on the next business day.

The scholarship is co-tenable with any award, including fees scholarships, unless the conditions of the other award preclude this. The scholarship will be paid by direct credit to a recipient’s nominated New Zealand bank account. The payments will be made in three instalments in the case of a recipient who is studying full-time, and in up to six instalments in the case of a recipient who is studying part-time. A condition of acceptance is that recipients permit publication and announcement of their acceptance of the award. In the event of a recipient’s withdrawal from enrolment in either a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree programme or Part 1 of a Master of Arts degree programme, the scholarship will be withdrawn, and any paid funds may be recovered.
